What happens, night by night

Your first month with SlumberTales

By SlumberTales Editorial Desk · Updated September 26, 2026 · For parents and guardians

A wall calendar with small gold moon stickers above a bedside table, a ribbon-tied stack of printed storybook pages, a lamp, and a plush rabbit on a quilt.

Parents ask us what actually happens after they sign up, so here it is in order. No surprises, and nothing about this page changes the price.

Your first personalized story is free. Cancel anytime. After that first story, start a plan: $4.99 for your first month, then your plan's regular monthly price. Paid plans include a monthly story cap: 12, 20, or 30 stories — not unlimited.

SlumberTales is for a parent or guardian of a child about 2–12 who wants a new tale at the end of a short routine and will read it themselves.

Night one: the free story

Want a feel for it before you share anything? Read the sample at https://slumbertales.app/sample. It's a full story, and it doesn't need an account or a card.

When you're ready, sign in with your email. You get a link or a six-digit code, so there's no password to invent. Add your child's first name, an age somewhere between 2 and 12, how they look so the pictures match, and a few favorite things.

We write the story. The email to your account has a short excerpt and links to open or download the illustrated printable PDF. If the PDF isn't ready yet, the email carries the full story text instead. Either way, the story is saved in your Magic Library.

Week one: pick a plan and play with the favorites

After that first story, start a plan: $4.99 for your first month, then your plan's regular monthly price.

Use the first week to experiment. Dragons one night, the ocean the next, a toy companion on Plus or Premium. Kids tell you fast which worlds land, and you can update their favorites any time.

Starter covers 12 stories a month, which works out to about three a week. Plus covers 20 a month for up to two children combined. Premium covers 30 a month per child, for up to five children, and it adds audio narration.

Weeks two to four: it becomes part of the routine

By now most families have a rhythm. Bath, teeth, the same chair, one story, lights out. You read it, and if a line doesn't suit your kid, you skip it. You're the editor.

Stories pile up in the Magic Library, so the favorites are easy to find again. Kids ask for repeats. That's normal, and it doesn't use up a new story.

On Plus, every 20 stories become a keepsake volume. On Premium it's every 15.

After the first month

The plan renews at its regular monthly price until you cancel: $9.99, $14.99, or $19.99. Paying yearly is $99.90, $149.90, or $199.90, which is two months free compared with monthly.
